Position Summary:
The Families Connections Worker plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Sunset Rock Uniting Church to know Jesus and make Him known. Rooted in our identity as a Christ-centred, welcoming community, this position exists to nurture connections between families, individuals, the church, and the wider community. A key focus of the role is to build relationships with those who engage with The Shared Table Café and to help them explore pathways into deeper community life within the congregation. Situated in the peaceful bushland of the Adelaide Hills, Sunset Rock o ers a unique and sacred space where people can encounter God, find belonging, and experience the fullness of life in Christ. Through intentional connection, care, and presence, the Families Connections Worker extends the love of Jesus in both word and deed, fostering a vibrant church family and helping others discover a transforming relationship with God 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and strengthen family engagement
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the church’s ministry that reaches and supports families, encouraging their spiritual growth and integration within the life of the church.
  • Build relationships through The Shared Table Café
  • Intentionally connect with families attending or engaging with The Shared Table Café, fostering meaningful relationships and inviting them into deeper connection with the church community and with Jesus. Where needed, assist in the café’s day-to-day operations, particularly during busy periods, to support hospitality and strengthen relational connections.
  • Align ministry practice with church vision and values
  • Ensure that all activities undertaken within this role reflect the church’s Belief Statement, Mission Statement, and Core Values, and comply with safety, security, and child protection guidelines.
  • Collaborate with ministry leadership
  • Work in partnership with the Minister of the Word and other ministry leaders to support family engagement initiatives and contribute to the broader mission of the church. 
  • Develop a Family Outreach Team
  • Establish and lead a committed and visionary team to share in the ministry of reaching and supporting families within the church and wider community.
  • Nurture and equip leaders
  • Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and training for all team members involved in family ministry, helping them grow in their skills, confidence, and spiritual maturity.
  • Enhance worship engagement for families
  • Collaborate with the Minister of the Word to create a welcoming and engaging worship environment that connects with families—particularly those with children aged 5–9 years.
  • Sustain a culture of connection and growth
  • Develop long-term pathways for families to actively participate in the life, mission, and discipleship of the church community..
